Ahoy there folks and welcome again to another update. Today we're going to be showing off a totally new aspect of BFP2 which will take the mod to a whole new level literally. Today we'll be looking at the two new air assets that we will be introducing into a Second major release which is currently moving into testing.
To start of with we'll look at something that will be very familiar to our BFP1 followers. The Balloon, this canvas sack filled with hot air with a basket suspended below is the perfect object for high level air bombardment and supporting the landlubbers as they scramble up the beach to the fort. While it is slow and has poor maneuverability it carries multiple powder keys primed with fuses that detonate on impact, and two 2pndr Falconets controlled by the balloon crew which can fire roundshot for ground bombardment, or grapeshot for some protection in the air.
---===---
Secondly we have something totally new to the Pirates world, something born out of the imagination of the great Wegvisor. The BierGliter, (beer glider) This jerry rigged Ale barrel is essentially what it looks like, a Barrel with wings and a simple steering mechanism as well as a Bier engine which operation been declared a secret of the Brethren.
The Biergliter is the first dive bomber that existed, it carries an armament of one 2 pounder Automatic Falconet, and wing mounted power kegs which detonate on impact, which are perfect for low level bombing of enemy ships.
So thats all for you today folks, i promise it won't take us 2 months to put another media update out, in the mean time though head over to our general discussion area and give us your feedback on the weapons so we can make changes for R2. And for any of you who are thinking that the map in the images looks familiar think Wake 1707. |

We'd get a lot more done if these things werent so fun to fly around. The beer glider is powered by compressed beer. It will sail around ok in flight without losing too much power or altitude, but to pull yourself out of trouble or to make a fast getaway in a dogfight, you tap the keg spout harder (afterburner key) and SSPPPOOOOOOOFFFFFF off ya go. Beer reserves are limited though so you gotta use that wisely to stay up as long as possible.
These aircraft will not appear on every map and some custom air maps are in testing already specifically for them... so server owners can choose to keep aircraft out of rotation if thats not your thing.
Stay tuned - a lot more news updates coming down the pipes. _________________

Yep, Bibi and Weg did an incredible job with that model and skin - probably the best or one of the best we have in the whole mod. I did a pretty good job with the export too - and then the coding is a whole team effort.
